KS2 poetry - STEM poems

(0)
This is a free set of twelve poems for Key Stage 2, exploring the STEM subjects. Each poem is available as a free downloadable, printable poem poster. These twelve fascinating poems demonstrate the inspirational impact of exploring Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics through the medium of poetry. Take mathematics outside into the garden for a sensory experience of counting, then find out about the many different types of engineer we depend on – and which you could choose to be! Encounter new theories about quantum mechanics with Derek the dog, discover the most exquisitely mathematical of foods, and celebrate the largest artery of the body. Experience the importance of resilience and experimentation, then watch two innovative engineers-in-training at play. Hum with the beauty and mystery of sound, discover what is happening in your body when you are excited, and splice maths with poetry to create new experimental forms. Be inspired by a space science pioneer and encounter the beauty of the telescope, whilst pondering the questions it raises… There are also three free Key Stage 2 teaching resources to accompany the poems: ‘Write a poem about a verb’, ‘Write a short poem with a striking metaphor’ and ‘Write a mathematical poem’. (These are also available to view separately in the Tyger Tyger shop.) The file type is PDF. These poems were first published on the Tyger Tyger Magazine website in 2023.
